Joe Meallo
Joe started dancing at the age of 18 while attending the University of New Hampshire. After graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theatre and Dance, Joe worked professionally as an actor/singer/dancer at various theatres including Hangar Theatre (Ithaca, NY); Seacoast Reperatory Theatre (Portsmouth, NH); Ballet New England (Portsmouth, NH); Prescott Park (Portsmouth, NH); Arts Rochester (Rochester, NH); Garrison Hill Players (Rollinsford, NH); The Mill Pond Centre for the Performing Arts (Durham, NH), and The Palace Theatre (Manchester, NH). While at UNH Joe started choreographing for the Student Showcases, which led to other jobs as a choreographer at the above-listed theatres.
Since 2000 Joe has also been involved in the visual aspects of the marching band (Color Guard). He toured nationally with Spartans Drum & Bugle Corps and placed second in the World in 2002. Joe continued this work as the Exeter High School Color Guard Coach, and upon completing his Bachelor’s Degree in 2006 he began coaching the UNH Wildcat Marching Band Color Guard where he still thoroughly enjoys coaching, teaching and choreographing as a member of the UNH Faculty.
Joe came to Steppin’ Out in 2008 where he immediately fell in love with the studio, the students, and the rest of the staff. He is thrilled to begin this next full year with a full schedule and a great group of dancers.
