2018-2019 SODA COMPANY CONTRACT
SODA COMPANY CONTRACT 2018-2019
In order to make dance company both successful and fun, we have put together these guidelines to try to address some of the most common issues and questions. Please email me with any other questions you may have at [email protected]
Dance Company Costumes must be paid in full by NOVEMBER 1ST. Costumes will range in price from $60-$100 per class. Charges will be applied by class around the last week of October. If you would like to make payments toward costumes before they are charged they may be applied to your account as a credit. Company fees will now include 2 entry fees (Groove & Turn It Up), props, your “Groove” video and picture access through Grooves website, and master classes at Grooves competition! This year we will split co. fees into 2 payments.
Payment 1: Due upon registration $70 per co. Payment 2: Due no later than December 1st $70 per co. *Please email [email protected] if you have any questions about company fee payments.
Please attend all competitions with a friendly and positive attitude towards all dancers and supporters from our own studio as well as other studios. Remain quiet backstage, change costumes quickly, and please ARRIVE ON TIME. We have won many “studio spirit” awards in the past. Let’s keep it going!
Attendance is vitally important not only for the individual student but for the entire group. If a student misses more than 3 classes in the first half of the dance year (September 3rd-December 21st), they will not be allowed to compete in the first competition. If a student misses more than 3 classes in the second half of the year they will not be allowed to compete in the second competition or participate in the year end recital. Students who come in more than 5 minutes late will be counted as a half absence. If a dancer is injured, but is watching class and taking choreography notes it will not be counted as an absence. However, if a dancer is injured or sick for an extended period of time, we may need to remove them from choreography until they are safely able to perform. This will be at the discretion of the instructor. In the event that a dancer must be pulled from a routine fees cannot be refunded.
All company students are required to take at least 4 weeks of our ballet technique classes over the summer. If you are unable to attend you can speak to someone about setting up private lessons.

*PRE-POINTE & POINTE COMPANIES ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE A BALLET TECHNIQUE & A BALLET COMPANY
All company students are expected to participate in dress rehearsals and recitals. Recitals are just as important as competition, and should be treated as such. If you cannot participate in dress rehearsal or a recital, please notify the instructor as soon as possible so they can make adjustments, or get a fill-in for the performance (at least 3 months in advance) and teach them the choreography (with approval). Any students missing rehearsal or recital without notice (unless due to sickness etc.) will not be able to participate in company the following year.
NO GOSSIP POLICY
I cannot stress enough how important it is for everyone to work as a team. The studio has been a place where students from many di erent towns and schools have become great friends. It is so important that all students and parents are kind and supportive of one another. The studio should be a “judge free” zone, where everyone is encouraged, and NEVER made fun of or talked about. It is important that anything going on outside the studio should be left at the door. If a teacher, student, or parent feels there is gossip or mean behavior in class I would ask them to email me directly at [email protected] I am the only one with access to this email address, so any issues will be private. If a student or group of students continually gossip or exhibit mean behavior at the studio they will be asked to leave the dance company. Let’s keep the studio friendly, fun and positive!
