Elyssa Clement
Elyssa is a graduate of the Paul Mitchell School Of Hair Design, in Casselberry, FL., where she was part of the advanced level phase 2 honors program. She not only teaches here at Steppin’Out, but also works at Salon 27, in Raymond, NH, as a hair stylist. This year will be Elyssa’s third year teaching for Steppin’Out. Although last year was her first year teaching, she has been a part of the studio for the past 18 years. She has been a member of the competitive dance company at Steppin’Out, and has won many high score and special awards. Elyssa has performed at Walt Disney World & Universal Studios in Florida, and has performed in Ballet New England’s Nutcracker, in Portsmouth, NH. In 2001 Elyssa took part in a year long pre-professional certificate program right here at Steppin’Out. The program was designed for advanced level high school students who wanted to pursue dance as a career. Students in the program took 9 classes a week in different styles of dance, teaching techniques, dance history, choreography, and dance terminology. Students had to pass written tests as well as their practical class studies. In 2005 Elyssa attended the week long Danzjam teacher intensive in New York City, and continues to take yearly workshops with Danzjam in Peabody, MA. Elyssa has taken classes with many master teachers including Jacqui Young, Devon Perry, Drika Overton, and Josh Hilberman, just to name a few. Last September Elyssa attended Mark Goodman’s Tap University in San Diego, CA. Elyssa is really excited about teaching again this year, and can’t wait to meet all her new students!
